P.D.CAMPBELL

of Charlevoix Michigan

P.D. Campbell, 1889-1963, lived a life of adventure, commerce, and art. He captained ships on the Great Lakes, was a successful businessman, and created a series of oil paintings depicting his environment in Northern Michigan. He wrote a book about Charlevoix, “The History of Bridge Street.” He left a significant legacy primarily in a large collection of writings, photos, films, and paintings. In 1949, he wrote this preface to his memoirs: “Now, at the age of 60 I feel that I would like to record a few of the highlights of my life to leave to my daughters, Julia Anne and Margaret Jeannette, that they may keep and pass on to succeeding generations these memories and relive the many, many pleasant times we have known.”
